Use the rechargeable Smart DryFireMag independently for repeated trigger-reset practice without laser feedback, or add it to an existing compatible Smart Red or IR system. No laser cartridge, adapter or safety-pipe components are required for standalone use.
LASER COMPATIBILITY: The Smart DryFireMag is designed for use only with compatible Smart SureStrike laser-system components. It is not compatible with firing pin-activated or other third-party laser cartridges.
Starting from scratch? The complete Smart Red and Smart IR systems shown in Description are the simplest and most cost-effective purchase. Use the individual components below primarily to replace parts or expand a compatible Smart system you already own.
Select one compatible laser cartridge and the Short Safety Pipe Kit. Add the .40 S&W adapter ring only when using the Smart 9mm Laser Cartridge in a compatible .40 S&W pistol. Review the barrel-length guidance below before selecting pipe components.

Standalone versus laser use: No laser cartridge, adapter ring or safety-pipe components are needed when using the magazine by itself. All barrel and adapter requirements apply only when pairing it with a compatible Smart 9mm Laser Cartridge.

The rechargeable Smart DryFireMag® for Smith & Wesson® M&P® can be used independently for repeated trigger-reset practice without manually cycling the slide between presses. It can also expand an existing compatible Smart Red or IR Laser Training System.
This Mag Only option is intended for customers who want standalone trigger-reset practice or already own compatible Smart laser-system components and want to add another compatible pistol.
When installed and adjusted according to the product instructions, the Smart DryFireMag interacts with the pistol’s trigger mechanism to simulate repeated trigger presses without cycling the firearm’s action.
A laser cartridge, caliber-adapter ring and barrel safety-pipe components are not required when using the magazine independently. In this configuration, the Smart DryFireMag provides audible and tactile trigger-reset simulation without laser shot feedback.
Important: When used independently, the Smart DryFireMag simulates trigger reset but does not activate a laser, cycle the slide, operate the firearm’s action or fire a projectile.
Choose a complete laser training system. A complete Smart Red or Smart IR Laser Training System is the simplest and most cost-effective way to purchase the compatible M&P magazine, selected laser cartridge and standard safety-pipe components together.
The magazine works independently in compatible 9mm and .40 S&W pistols without a caliber-adapter ring. The .40 S&W adapter is required only when using the 9mm Smart SureStrike Laser Cartridge in a compatible .40 S&W barrel.
Need a complete laser system? Choose a complete Smart Red or Smart IR Laser Training System if you do not already own the compatible Smart laser cartridge and safety-pipe components. The .40 S&W adapter is sold separately.
Already own Smart components? This magazine can expand an existing compatible Smart system. Open the Compatibility section to select replacement laser cartridges, safety-pipe components and the .40 S&W adapter required for laser use in compatible .40-caliber pistols.
The Smart DryFireMag ships with a pull weight that closely approximates the firearm’s actual trigger pull weight. Trigger configurations, installed components and individual firearms can vary, so the simulated trigger pull might not feel identical to the live-fire trigger pull of every pistol.
One heavier accessory spring is included. The installed spring provides an approximate 5½-pound simulated pull, while the included heavier spring can increase the simulated pull to approximately 5¾–6 pounds. Actual pull weight can vary based on the individual firearm, scale and pull-test method. The optional Smith & Wesson M&P Spring Kit is sold separately for additional trigger-pull adjustment options.

The Smart DryFireMag contains an internal rechargeable lithium battery and includes a USB-C charging cable. Allow approximately 2.25 hours for a full charge, which can provide up to approximately 50,000 trigger presses. Actual battery life can vary with use and storage conditions.
When pairing this magazine with a compatible Smart SureStrike™ Laser Cartridge, keep the protective shrink wrap on the laser-cartridge battery pack during use. Remove the battery pack from the laser cartridge after every training session to reduce battery drain and extend its storage life.
The orange baseplate helps distinguish the Smart DryFireMag from live-fire magazines during dry-fire practice. The activation lever and all other magazine components are black.
Always verify that your firearm is unloaded and follow the included product instructions before beginning any dry-fire training session.
